Bengaluru civic polls move to December after court extension

The Supreme Court permitted more time for elections to the Greater Bengaluru Authority and directed that the exercise be completed by December. The extension followed the ongoing revision of electoral rolls, whose final publication was expected after the revision process in November.\n\nThe delay matters because the city’s civic structure has been under discussion while elected local representation has remained overdue. Elections alone will not solve Bengaluru’s infrastructure pressures, but accountable municipal leadership is necessary for questions about roads, flooding, waste, land use and service priorities to be debated publicly.\n\nThe Northern Review will follow the election timetable, the roll-revision process and the division of responsibilities among the state, election authorities and the new civic bodies.
